Key 5: you possess what you confess
Since you possess what you confess; do not confess who you were and what you did not have. Rather, confess who you are and what you desire now. blog
But in order to do this, you must be confident and assured about your identity and purpose. You are a new creation in Christ Jesus, if you believe and accept him as savior and Lord. As a result, you share in all that he possesses, which is everything. This is a reality, in which you must have absolute confidence.
So, What is confession?
Confession is affirming what we believe. It is testifying about something that we believe to be true. For example, if you are feeling sick, or if the doctor gives you a report of disease, do not receive the sickness by confessing it. Instead, confess the word pertaining to your healing. Certainly, the promise of healing is in the word of God for you. Of course, you can say, “I believe in health. But not in sickness. That is my belief.” Consider that Jesus took “your infirmities and bore your sickness” (Mat. 8:17) “and by his stripes you are healed” (Isa. 53:5). Make this confession one that you make daily. Surely, you will possess your healing.
As a matter of fact, what we believe in our heart is what we confess. That is to say, a connection exists between faith and speech. And without conscious thought when we are talking, we are communicating our beliefs. Regardless of whether the things we are saying are negative or positive. Kenyons.org
Therefore, you must speak faith filled words so that you possess what you confess. Do not talk in the negative about the way things are in your life. Also, resist talk of failure and defeat. Instead, use words such as love, joy, peace, gratitude, empathy, kind, unique, fearfully and wonderfully created, generous, knowledgeable, wise to describe yourself. And use power words such as health, wealth, prosperity, success, potential, skills and abilities to talk about what you possess even if you do not have them right now. Indeed, the words of God shall come to pass for you. “His words go forth and accomplish all that he set them forth to do” (Isa. 55:11)
Example of how to possess what you confess
In order that you possess what you confess, make your confession strong, bold and consistent, with conviction. When you confess God’s words you are utilizing heaven’s language. As a matter of fact, you are accessing the supernatural realm. What that means is that, heaven’s resources will be manifested to you on earth. For example, if you have financial needs, then declare scriptures that address finances. Here are some:
- All that my Father has is mine. For I am heirs with my Father and joint-heirs with Christ (Rom. 8:17). Therefore, the silver and gold (Hag. 2:8) and cattle on a thousand hills (Ps. 50:10-12) is my Father’s and I confess that it is also mine.
- It is my Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom (Lk. 12:32). Good gifts fill the kingdom – wealth, prosperity, gold and precious stones. I confess that it is mine because my Father has given it to me.
To conclude, since you possess what you confess, talk about God’s goodness and mercy that is following you everyday. Everywhere you go. Tell of his good gifts that he gives to you to richly enjoy. Undoubtedly, that’s what you will possess.
