Why is it Good News?
Surely, everything about Jesus is good news. He changes everything. The first time we hear about the good news is at the birth of Jesus. The angel announced the good news. Listen, (“…I bring you good news of great joy, that will be for all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord” (Lk. 2:10-11). Therefore, you are no longer enemies with God. Jesus’ substitutionary action on your behalf allows you access by faith to your heavenly Father. We were without God and without hope in the world. And God sent Jesus on a rescue mission for us (Eph. 2:12).
Next, Jesus, throughout his earthly ministry he spoke about the good news of God’s amazing love for you. This would be demonstrated through his death and resurrection. Consequently, it gives you the true purpose and direction for your life. God created you for love relationship with himself. As such, he has a unique and grand purpose for you. This knowledge can only be revealed through the good news.
What’s more, at his resurrection he commissioned his followers to proclaim this irresistible news to the entire world. It is sent from the loving heart of your heavenly Father to you. To tell you about all the good things he has prepared for you even before you were born. This is his will to you and it list your inheritance. It is similar to the way your earthly father would leave a will for his child with the details.

Science has shown that good news impart positive health benefits to us. Furthermore, the spiritual far outweighs the physical. As a matter of fact, the spiritual also encompasses the physical. Whereas, constant bad news have a negative impact on our health and well being; consistent good news boost our immunity.
Certainly, Jesus’ sacrifice was for you. Everything he did was for you. You are always on his mind. He ever lives to make intercession for us (1 Jn. 2:1; Heb. 7:25). Jesus is always presenting a favourable case to the Father on our behalf.
The benefits are astounding. Here is a list.
- A Child of God: When you believe in Jesus and accept his sacrifice you become a child of God.
- Abundant life: That is life in all of its fullness and richness. You will be blessed spiritually, emotionally, financially, with rich relationships and with health and well being. Jesus said that he came to give us life and more abundantly.
- Rights and Privileges: As a child of God you have the rights to protection, provision and supernatural resources from your heavenly Father.
- Angelic ministry: Even though we may not see them, angels minister to God’s children. “The angels of the Lord encamp around those who fear the Lord and delivers them” (Ps. 34:7-8). And he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go (Ps. 91:11-12)
- Dominion and authority: Dominion and authority has been restored to us. It was taken by the enemy when Adam and Eve, our first earthly parents sinned. But through Jesus’ triumph over sin, death and the enemy, it has been restored. As a result, you can rule in the earth and be a world changer.

What’s My Response
On the one hand, we can accept God’s invitation to receive his life and love in Jesus. But on the other hand, we can reject the offer. This means that we have a choice. We are not forced. Neither or we coerced. We are to respond to his love by giving him our love.
Surely, Jesus said, change your mind and believe the gospel (Mk. 1:15). It is clear from his statement that people were believing things that were not true about God. Therefore, the good news is the truth about God’s unconditional love for you in Christ.
You can obey the command of Jesus. Believe and live. “For if you tell others with your own mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord, and believe in your own heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in his heart that a person becomes right with God; and with his mouth he tells others of his faith, confirming his salvation” (Rom. 10:9-10).
Your faith in Jesus makes you a child of God. You are born from God. A part of his family. He chose you before the foundation of the world (Eph. 1:4). To be his very own. Beloved of the Lord forever.
